I attended my first Boy Scout pack meeting last night, for my newly indoctrinated 10-year-old Boy Scout… and I have to say, this was a gut check. As I saw my son standing up there accepting his awards, I flashed back to when he was 3 years old romping on the shores of Fern Ridge. I realize he’s still just 10 years old; but… he LOOKED, and it FELT like, he was 15!! He was quite handsome in his uniform, and so very proud.

I am so very proud as well – of his accomplishments, courage, willingness, and ability to jump into this with both feet, and for (more than anything) making me a better person. We all see a little of ourselves when we look into the eyes and hearts of our children. I am so very thankful for what I see, and what he has taught me in our shared time on this planet – and look forward to what we have to share together in the future.
